Finally, I have booked my flight back to Egypt.

My dates are February 20th to April 10th 2017.  Once again my home base will be on the West Bank, Luxor.

Hi all.
So now it is almost a month later ( I think) since my last post.  And, no I have not posted anything since then.  It has been a little difficult these last six weeks.  First it was getting over that nasty cold, and then the annual learning to deal with snow, freezing rain, and dangerous driving conditions.

So, I have decided that the best way to deal with winter is to enjoy it for a few weeks and then leave.  I have a tentative plan to return to the West Bank, Luxor sometime in February for about two months.  I have not yet booked my flight, but will do so in the next few days.

When I am there I will post about the people who make this place so comfortable for me, and why I return.  I have not returned to a specific destination/hotel ever in 50 years of travelling, so I must have caught some Egyptian virus :).  Let's see if it is curable.

Today is December 10th and I arrived home on the 1st.  I came back with an unintended souvenir from my trip - a really nasty cold.  I am finally feeling myself and getting my photos and videos sorted.  There are some photos and posts that I have yet to make, so stay tuned.

Over on the East Bank I noticed this woman's nice white laundry hanging up over the usual unpaved, dusty street. By the way, this is a two way street with parking on both sides, and room enough for only one vehicle to drive through.  Needless to say that special skills are required.

Village of old Gourna.  Settlers here were traditionally 'employed' as tomb robbers.  About two hundred years ago they settled here and many homes were built over tombs of the nobles.  The tomb was the cellar.

In 2006/7 the government forced the people to move to a nearby location and destroyed part of the village. This is what is left.

The workers village and tombs.  The workers and craftsmen worked ten day shifts constructing the royal tombs.  There is a lot of interesting information on the net.  Just ask Mr. Google.

I cannot believe that in two days I will be packed and heading home.  So sad.
